I love plants and I surround myself by scattering them all around my home. To add dimension, I complement them with botanical framed art and extend the theme to furniture, textiles and accessories. It brings mindfulness and a sense of serenity to me.
Where possible, one should aspire to get the full collection as it increases its value if bought as an investment by a collector. More importantly the artist’s vision is fully captured, telling the complete story when displayed together in harmony.
This collection is inspired by the bamboo flourishing in my garden. I have watched it over many years and I am mesmerised by its toughness, longevity and resilience. No matter the circumstances, a bamboo survives everything. From draught to flood, ice or storm, throw anything at it, even neglect, it will weather it and keep standing tall.
Bamboo is a symbol of longevity due to its strength, flexibility and resilience. It is also a symbol of simplicity and growth, surviving the harshest conditions, standing tall under all circumstances. Bamboo doesn’t break during a storm, rather it bends with wind and regains its upright position after, making it a Chinese symbol of uprightness and an Indian symbol of friendship.
Many associate meaning behind number of stalks for instance five stalks represent balance, peace, harmony and seven represents romance and love. In ancient Chinese culture giving a gift of bamboo signified giving a good fortune. Bamboo’s symbolism and it’s aesthetics both appeal to my senses. Growth (collection of six pieces) is my interpretation of what Bamboo signifies.
