Part of six-piece collection ‘GROWTH’ inspired by the diversity of bamboo and its cultural symbolism.

This collection is inspired by the bamboo growing in my back garden which has always mesmerised me with its beauty and resilience.

I drew this collection through the summer of 2024 from my home studio that overlooks my garden. Although I have to turn around to see the bamboo plant (it’s behind my workstation), it provides a sense of security that no matter what, when I turn around, I will always find it there – strong and thriving.

My art is a cross between abstract and realism, tilted more towards abstractionism. The inspiration I draw from nature is fleeting, the imagination heavy.

Prosperity – is the first piece in the collection that I started and the last one that I completed. Somewhere there was a dissonance between my imagination and how it was shaping in reality. I think it was an itch to put some colour on it which I had to overcome.
